Top Three Quotes

I just finished Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.

Here are my top three favorite quotes:

1) "We (the demons) want cattle who can finally become food; He (GOD) wants servants who can finally become sons or daughters. We want to suck in, He wants to give out. We are empty and would be filled; He is full and flows over. Our war aim is a world in which Our Father Below (Satan) has drawn all other beings into himself: the Enemy (GOD) wants a world full of beings united to Himself but still distinct" - pg. 39 of my edition

2) "Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy's (GOD's) will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why has he been forsaken, and still obeys " - pg. 40 of my edition - Emphasis mine

3) "Pilate was merciful till it became risky" - pg. 162 of my edition

This is one of my favorite books, and I hope these quotes make an impact of some sort.

Give me some feedback, what do you think of the book, and these quotes.

- With Love,

Kris

More Controversial Topics Ideas

The Sync,

For the following two weeks, Kris is teaching us about Spiritual Warfare. But on January 30th, I get to choose a new topic for us to discuss. Please post what controversial topics you'd like to learn about. I'll go ahead and throw out a few ideas. It might be interesting to learn different theories on the creation account, or talk about homosexuality, or the covenant of marriage. Put your ideas out there too! I'll let you know what I choose very soon!

The Screwtape Letters

Alright, Kelsey had the brilliant "Elephant in the Room" of Spiritual Warfare. We will cover this topic in depth the next 2 maybe 3 weeks.

I don't want to make these next few weeks solely about C.S. Lewis' the Screwtape Letters, so I have decided rather than going through the book, I will post some quotes which are really relevant here, on the Sync's site.

As I mentioned before, please comment both here and on facebook.

Here is the first quote

The safest road to Hell is the gradual one — the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts."

Our Own Jonathan

I am giving a little shout out to our very own Jonathan Romig. He is a mighty talented wordsmith, who crafts some mighty fine sentences.

You should check out his blog,  http://awkwardchristianity.com/ , He is going to be famous one day. Be nice now and he might even autograph a 1st edition of his book.

We have all sorts of talented people who are a part of The Sync. Who shall I talk about next?

More than Fine

My (Kris) favorite band is Switchfoot. I love listening to their songs, over and over again. In fact, one song, Stars, is one that I have spent over 27 hours of my life; listening to that one song!

I was thinking about my life and a Switchfoot song came to mind, "More than Fine." Read some of the lyrics to this wonderful song.

" When I wake in the morning, I want to blow into pieces. I want more than just okay. When I wake with the

sunrise, I want more than just blue skies."

Jon Foreman is singing about a life that is more than just okay. I want that life. I want so much for my life and for your lives as well.

Following Jesus isn't easy, but it is the only way we can truly have a life that is more than okay.

"For I have come that they might have life, and life abundantly" - Jesus in John 10:10

Welcome

January 9th.

This is the first meeting of The Sync, a 20/30's group dedicated to deeper connection with God and each other.

The last few months we met discussing John.

This Sunday we will start a new series called The Elephants in the Room. This is a series that deals with topics which can be hotbed issues for us.

Join us at 9:30am at East Baptist Church.

Thanks,

Kris and Jonathan
